Becoming a Teaching Assistant is a popular choice and for good reason. It’s a worthwhile and varied role, it can lead to a good career and it leaves the summer holidays free for those with children.

This new Teaching Assistant course is being offered by ABM Training working with Paddington Development Trust.  

You don’t need any qualifications to be accepted – just lots of enthusiasm and a clear sense of why you would like to do it.

Training is absolutely free if you are unemployed or earn less than £25,000 per year and are a resident of a London Borough.

You will cover a range of topics including how schools work as organisations; how a child develops at different stages and how to support their learning in the classroom.

The course is taught online through tutor-led workshops and online modules that you can access in your own time as well as one-to-one online meetings with your tutor. On average, this amounts to eight hours a week plus homework. The teachers will support you through eleven assignments and come out in person to observe you working with children.

You can start studying for your NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in July, so you can start your new career in no time.
